Abstract: The poem «Ran up the hill and gasped...» (1973) is chronologically the first of the two dozen lyrical works of Alexander Kushner, containing Lermontov's motives. The starting point of associative Lermontov background of the poem becomes a direct reference to the poem «Borodino» (mention the amount of «Borodino» as a sign generally inherent Kushner of reflexivity poetic thoughts), which offers a roll with other relatively late Lermontov's works – first of all, «I am yellowing field...». Relationship poems by two poets is provided by a single for them a sense of peace and harmony perception in all its fullness transmitted through landscape motives; Lermontov came to this poetic thoughts at the end of life, Kushner does it tend, at all stages of his career.
