Abstract: Analyzing an early story by A. Platonov «The Star Desert» (1921) in terms of its discourse structure, the article grounds the syncretic principle underlying the text organization. The author’s eager desire to arrive at the Truth by various ways: knowledge, creative work, practical activities, – characteristic for his early period, becomes an important drive for philosophizing, giving rise to texts unique in the form of sense generation, uniting a narrative type of utterance with a non-narrative one and notable for their heightened expression.

Keywords: works by a. platonov, discourse, narrativity, non-narrativity, performative, lyricism
