Abstract: This article presents the chronicle of the “Theory of Literary Plot / Narratology – 8” conference, held on May 17–19, 2022, by the Literary Studies Department of the Institute of Philology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). About 50 reports, prepared by researchers working in educational and scientific institutions of Russia. This year it was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Elena Konstantinovna Romodanovskaya (1937–2013), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute from 1998 to 2012. The breadth of the problems of the conference reflected the scale of Elena Konstantinovna's scientific interests. One of the scientific directions initiated by E. K. Romodanovskaya is the creation of an experimental «Dictionary of Plots and Motifs of Russian Literature», on which the team of the Literary Sector has been working for many years. The problems of creating a dictionary were one of the main aspects of the conference, where the theory of plot and motive was discussed, the history of specific plots was reconstructed, a review of plot and motive thesauri of individual authors or works was made, and much more.
