Abstract: This paper investigates the features of the narrative intrigue in D. Danilov’s novels “Horizontal position”, “There are more important things than football” and “Sasha, hello!”. It is established that in the first two works, written in 2010–2015, parallel series of events, acting as duplicates, are constructed by developing the probabilistic elements of the narrative intrigue. One storyline is presented in the main narrative, while the other is conveyed through reception mechanisms. Parallel series of events are created by incorporating epigraphs and retelling the antecedent texts (S. King’s novel “Faithful: Two Diehard Boston Red Sox Fans Chronicle the Historic 2004 Season” and the text of S. Samsonov’s “Kamlaev Anomaly”). Each of the presented event series has two opposed endings, one of which is chosen by the author as the main one. In the 2021 novel “Sasha, hello!”, serial narrative intrigue is created by repeating fragments of text (episodes of walking down the street and the Factory), including intramedial elements (fragments of the film “Bangkok Hilton”). Additionally, the novel employs reception, creating the illusion of a copy of V. V. Nabokov’s novel “Invitation to a Beheading”, ultimately nullifying the intrigue zero. These reception-driven parallel event sequences alter the very nature of the events themselves. The conclusion of the novel presents a sequence of alternative endings. This leads to the fusion of mutually exclusive concepts, such as death and its absence. Consequently, the reader loses the choice between these possibilities, compelled instead to confront the simultaneous manifestation of two contradictory resolutions.
