Abstract: The paper investigates the Old Russian history plots as the basis for a lot of multigenre texts of the Russian literature (period of the Romanticism): the «Arzamas» experiences in the historical poem and «Ivan Gudoshnik’s Tales» by N. A. Polevoy. The texts studies let us conclude, that the Russian cultural mind tends to mythologize the national history represented via the plots which involve historical facts accreted with legends.
