Abstract: The comparison of texts of a fairy tale «Beautyand the beast» interpreted by Leprince de Beaumont, Serguey Aksakov and Leo Tolstoy is more a potential subject of inquiry though an expected one. The development of this topic has three approaches: biographic, historical and cultural, and source studying. Biographic aspect implies study of images of authors of the fairy tale «Beauty and td the beast » within the context of purposes and reasons of address to this topic by Leprince de Beaumont, Serguey Aksakov and Leo Tolstoy. Historical and cultural approach supposes a research of literature tale tradition associated to the name of Leprince de Beaumont in works of these writers, and will also explain the reason of demand for a plot 425 C according to Aarne-Thompson method in European literature. Source studying approach is applicable only for Tolstoy, as far as the source of his text «Branch of nutwood» has not yet been developed unlike the two others which have been interpreted in literature for a long period of time. Interconnection of these approaches is obvious.

Keywords: morphology, folk tale, literature tale, moral, education, translation.
