ArticleName: SACRALIZATION OF THE PROFANE LIFE IN PROSE BY KONSTANTIN VAGINOV Authors: F. V. Kuvshinov Lipetsk Institute of Cooperation (regional subsidiary) BUKEP, Lipetsk, Russian Federation In the section
Abstract: The problem of sacralization of the profane life is considered on the example of the prose by K. K. Vaginov. For the writer, who follows the Acmeist tradition of integrating life and Being and understands ‘the finiteness’ of culture, all the artifacts of everyday life are valuable. Vaginov’s position is not limited to his obvious attachment to the past and rejection of the present, but becomes more complicated by the special understanding of time and the correlation of the character / artifact. In the profane fragments of the destroyed Petersburg by the «herd of winds» we can guess its «high» past, that’s why these fragments become sacred. The desire to «collect» the bygone world is the inner core of the existence of his characters, allowing them to maintain their identity. Not only the everydayness of the past is sacralised but also of the present. The writer’s characters are trying to fill their future existence with the real material world, which is now being destroyed under the influence of time and is shifting into the category of the past, so in the future it will have the status of sacred. As a result of such chronological jump, the axiological nature of the everyday objects is shifted from «minus» to «plus» sign, while Vaginov’s characters are losing their original author’s promise: keep the «sweet home», St. Petersburg / Petropolis.
