Abstract: The article is devoted to the examination of the interaction of lyric poetry motives of beauty and ugliness in I. Annensky’s poems as result of ironic attitude of the author. The symbolic indication of this property as the poetics of «the magic prism» roots in the poet’s vividness and reflects his directive on the unimomental display of the contrary senses that creates the effect of powerful strong emotional shock placing his lyric «I» before paradoxicalness of the being and the ability of man to perceive it. In the centre of the attention is the analysis of such poems as «O no, not waist», «In the magic prism», «The poppies» and some others. The study of the dynamics of the meant motives in the lyric poetry topics of this poems allows to distinguish some variants of their interaction. The first one is connected with the expressing of melancholy / languor for ideal. The second is conditioned by lyric experience of time and takes shape as revealing of ugliness in the core of beauty and vice versa. The both variants are the consequence of mankind ability in the same moment on the principle of «the magic prism» to see phenomenon or event from different points of view and in different ways to go through it that originally colors the development of lyric poetry plots in I. Annensky’s poems.
