Abstract: This article examines the reminiscences from «The Raven» by E. A. Poe and enlightens their functions in the Russian poetry of the XX–XXI centuries. In the dialogue with the Raven the heroes seek to escape from the circle of predictable questions and answers. Inflexibility of the prophetic bird gives the chance to understand in some way its brief exclamation and to come to different artistic decisions, including paradoxical ones.

Keywords: reminiscence, the symbolism of the raven, dialogue, lyric plot, interpretation
