Abstract: Nathalie Sarraute, being an eminent representative of Nouveau Roman, declares the basic principles of novel à la Balzac type. Rejecting its traditional principles such as a character, intrigue and an omniscient narrator, the writer creates a new kind of poetics. The plot in her works is not the story of the hero’s life or character’s moulding, that’s why it is non-existent one from the standpoint of the XIX century poetics. However, the fixation of inner states of a person forms the basis of Sarraute’s artistic method enabling to create an integral text based on associative thinking.
